Guide/Wrangler/Packer
Description: Guides are responsible for getting horses ready as needed for daily activities. They are dedicated to providing the best possible experience for our guests by maintaining healthy horses, a safe and pleasurable riding environment via thorough communication and instruction. They are dedicated to actively promoting and positively representing Big Sandy Lodge.

Daily Wage: Biweekly pay. Rate is based on experience. This rate will include lodging and food on all days (including days off) while employed by BSL.

Reports to: Lodge Management

Examples of Duties & Responsibilities:
-Must maintain a positive attitude while accomplishing all duties the day may bring.
- Must be able to lift 75-100 pounds repetitively.
-Fence, corral, and barn maintenance. Keeping all areas clean of debris and free of manure.
-Carefully packing client gear into panniers and cooperating with other wranglers as to best methods of packing.
-Caring for horses, tack and other lodge gear.
-Consistently having horses ready to ride or pack at designated times.
-Lead backcountry day rides, spot packs and gear drops.
-Going on guided overnight camping trips as needed.
-Responsible for the safety of guests and horses.
-Flexibility with job roles; when work load dictates help with maintenance of lodge, greeting of guests, Splitting firewood, painting, and other duties that may help with lodge operations.
-Instruct basic horsemanship and aid guests in developing their horseback riding skills.
-This job may lead to guiding hunters if qualified to be a hunting guide.
-Must work well with others.
-Must have experience working with horses. Packing experience preferred.
-First-Aid / CPR Training required (WFA or better preferred).


Cook
Description: Cooks are responsible for preparation and cooking meals. Keeping kitchen and storage area clean and orderly. Helping with guest check-in and check-out.

Daily Wage: Biweekly pay. Rate is based on experience. This rate will include lodging and food on all days (including days off) while employed by BSL.

Reports to: Lodge Management

Examples of Duties & Responsibilities:
-Must maintain a positive attitude while accomplishing all duties the day may bring.
-Responsible for the safety of guest meals.
-Must be able to work well with others.
-Taking inventory for food and kitchen supplies.
-Keeping kitchen and storage area clean and orderly.
-Help with billing as guests check-out.
-Help with guest check-in.
-Assist with cleaning duties and other duties as assigned.
-Must be knowledgeable regarding health code.
-Consistently having meals hot and ready to eat at designated times.


Housekeeping
Description:The Lodge Housekeeper will be dedicated to providing the best possible experience for our guests by maintaining clean and safe environment. They will be able to communicate with guests and problem solve. They are dedicated to actively promotingand positively representing Big Sandy Lodge.

Daily Wage: Biweekly pay. Rate is based on experience. This rate will include lodging and food on all days (including days off) while employed by BSL.

Reports to: Lodge Management

Examples of Duties & Responsibilities:
- Maintain a positive attitude while dealing with whatever the day may bring.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
-Daily upkeep and cleaning of cabins that are vacated by guests. Changing sheets, dusting, refilling oil lamps, stocking firewood, changing garbage cans, etc.
-Laundering of sheets. Must be comfortable using the older style “ringer washer” and line drying.
-Cleaning of main lodge & dining area when help is needed. Helping clean up after dinner is everyone’s duty, (dishes, sweeping, cleaning off tables).
-Have a general knowledge of all policies and procedures to be able to answer guests/inquiry questions.
-Must work well with other.
-Flexibility with job roles; when work load dictates help with maintenance of lodge, greeting of guests, food prep, and other duties that may help with everyday lodge operations.
