Rate is for the cabin for the night, not per person. Our one room log cabins are furnished with bedding, towels, wood-buring stoves and kerosene lamps. Modern restrooms and shower facilities are centrally located. Excellent trout fishing is outside your cabin door. A $15.00 per night charge will be added to your bill for each person over capacity or if an extra cot is requested. Check in after 1 pm. Check out by 10 am. Prices do not include county lodging tax (3%) or state sales tax (4%).

Ranch-style breakfast at 7:30 am and dinners at 6:00 pm are served family-style in the lodge dining room. Lunches are packed for your hikes and trail rides.

An experienced Guide will accompany you and introduce you to the majestic alpine scenes common to the Wind River Range. You can fish for many varieties of trout in crystal streams and lakes. Photographic opportunities abound in the profusion of wild flowers, birds, and animals beneath lofty mountain peaks. These horses are tailored to your specifications. Prices are based on a two-person minimum. Day packs up to 10 lbs are allowable for riders. Children must be at least 6 years of age to ride. NO DOUBLE RIDING ALLOWED. Riders or guardians must sign a risk acceptance waiver before riding. Maximum rider weight of 245 lbs.

Our Packer/Guide will take you and your gear to your choice of destinations in the Bridger-Teton National Forest and return for you at the end of your stay. If your party chooses to hike in and/or out, we can pack all or part of your gear. Trips over 12 miles by special arrangement and additional charge. Minimum price for any one way trip is $250.00. Prices include guide and guide horse. Prices are subject to change without notice.

Our rustic, cozy one-room log cabins are nestled among the tall trees beside a picturesque mountain lake. Many more lakes are just a short hike away. Cabins are furnished with bedding, towels, wood-burning stoves and kerosene lamps. Modern restroom and shower facilities are centrally located. No electricity, no phone service, no TV, no microwave, no hot tub. If you can't live without those, this isn't the place for you. (Some of us would pay extra just to find a place without these things!) Cabin interior. Click on photo for a larger view. Night light is by kerosene lamps and heat by wonderful, old-style wood stoves. Cabins are neat and clean with chopped firewood stacked conveniently outside your door in racks. Picnic tables are located outside the cabins. Seeing all the night stars in the black sky are something you'll never forget our here. Our friendly staff is always there to answer questions, identify the local flora and fauna, or suggest great places to hike or fish. Just want to be left alone with your sweetie? That's fine too! Imagine the cares of the modern world fade away as enter our world and enjoy the simple accomodations of these mountain cabins.

  • 3 nights in cozy log cabin. Cabin with one double bed.
  • Meals: breakfast, trail lunch, dinner
  • Guided 1/2-day horseback trail rides on days 2 and 3 for sightseeing, fishing, photography. (Full day trail rides available upon request at additional cost.)
  • Relaxing evenings.
  • Start any day of week. Check-in after 1 pm, check out on day of departure by 10 am

Travel from Big Sandy Opening in the Bridger National Forest and Wilderness Area and enjoy excellent trout fishing, spectacular alpine scenery and secluded camping in breathtaking surroundings. We furnish all supplies, equipment, Wrangler/Guide, Cook and horses. Bring your personal gear (up to 35 pounds per person), sleeping bag, fishing equipment, camera, etc. Your trip is planned to meet your specifications.

Guest Corral Rental
Should you choose to stay and bring your own horses, we have corrals available on a first-come/first-served basis. Guest provides feed and care, water is available. Horses coming from out of state need to have proper health certificates. Packing feed is not required on the Bridger-Teton National Forest, except for within the Bridger Wilderness, but bringing certified hay or pellets is required. Two horses per corral.

Deposits & Refund Policy
We require 1/3 deposit to confirm your reservation. The balance of the fee is due before your departure from Big Sandy Lodge. Any cancellations of services upon or after arrival will be billed in full. If you cancel your reservations at least 45 days prior to the scheduled arrival date, we will refund your deposit. No refunds with less than 45 days notice. Prices are subject to change and do not include lodging tax or sales tax.

Reservation Information
Advanced reservations are recommended. We can accommodate some drop-ins for lodging and meals, but we cannot guarantee a room vacancy or meals without advance reservation. If you're just coming in off the Continental Divide Trail, you are still very welcome to stop by and see the availability status. Please make your reservations early as we book up quickly each season, especially during July and August. Special group rates and packages are available each season.
June and September are great months to take advantage of our lower rates and get away from the crowds. We reserve the right to refruse service to anyone.

We can accommodate group functions and welcome inquiries. We offer a unique setting for weddings, receptions, family reunions, artist retreats, executive seminars, and other group functions. Please make inquiries for group events well in advance to ensure availability.

Big Sandy Lodge is licensed, insured and authorized to operate on the Bridger-Teton National Forest and Bridger Wilderness by Special Use permits issued by the U.S. Forest Service, Pinedale Ranger District.
