About Us

Locally Owned & Family Operated Since Fall of 2012

Established in 1930, Big Sandy Lodge is 44 miles from the nearest town of Boulder, Wyoming. At 9,100 feet elevation and bordering the Bridger Wilderness at the southern end of the 90-mile long Wind River Mountain Range, BSL is the closest access to the Cirque of the Towers as well as other world class climbing and photography. Big Sandy Lodge was the original fish camp of Finis Mitchell, "Man O' the Mountain" and hasn't changed much in the last 90 years. Cell service is scarce and there are no public phones or electricity here at the Lodge, so leave the rest of the world behind and enjoy the Wyoming mountains.

THE LODGE, ACTIVITIES, CABINS

A historical outfitting lodge with impressive views and outdoor activities in abundance. Warm cozy cabins, delicious meals, and backcountry journeys on horseback, all make this the place to get away and enjoy the solitude of the wilderness.

outfitting

Guided big game hunting including antelope, bear, deer, elk, and moose. Your hunting package includes comfortable accommodations, hot meals, professional guides, trail horses if needed, field dressing, and packing your game into the lodge.

Horseback Riding

Summer spot packs, gear drops & day rides along the Continental Divide in Southern Bridger Wilderness & BTNF, with a professional guide, who will lead you to scenic views, hiking locations, and/or excellent fishing destinations.

Lodge & Cabins

Secluded rustic log cabins are nestled in a partial circle with views of Mud Lake. Cozily heated with woodstoves and warmly lit with oil lamps. The historic main lodge provides dining space for meals, a public restaurant, and a small library and game space for relaxing.

Burgers & Beer

Stop in at the Lodge Thursday-Monday & Holidays from Opening Day through Labor Day Weekend to see us. Separate from the lodge meals served to our guests in the cabins, our restaurant hours are generally 11am to 8pm, or LAST CALL.

Have been there three times, once solo and twice with family and friends. Every time has been great. The food is excellent. Great place to relax after just hiking or backpacking. Big Sandy trail head was quite busy except when I went solo in early Sept. Plan on going back next yr. in early Sept…

We've stayed here 5 times in 30 years. Last year with our son and partner, this year with our daughter and family. Trail rides both years were great. Backpacking from there is beautiful. Food and accommodations

are excellent. The staff is there to care for you 24/7.
